Month 4 · Indian courts and the National Human Rights Commission

No eviction without notice or review

India's Muslims

The ask

Indian courts: enforce the Supreme Court's rulings against punitive demolitions and evictions carried out on a day's notice or without review.

Why

The Supreme Court has already ruled against punitive demolitions. Contempt petitions by legal-aid lawyers, and habeas corpus petitions for Kashmiris held after Pahalgam, go through the courts and not the captured India–Bangladesh border talks.

What you can do

  1. Set up a document clinic at your mosque using the help-desk guide. It covers name corrections, roll-revision appeals, Foreigners Tribunal hearings and eviction challenges.
  2. Use the legal aid app to refer families facing eviction or detention to legal-aid lawyers, with priority for women and the poor.
  3. Lawyers: volunteer to file contempt petitions under the November 2025 and February 2026 rulings, and habeas corpus petitions for Kashmiris held after Pahalgam.
  4. Help families keep copies of notices and documents. The app stores only minimal, encrypted data.

For: Affected families in Assam and elsewhere, mosque help desks, and volunteer lawyers and paralegals. From the plan: “Back families with legal-aid lawyers to file contempt petitions against evictions and habeas corpus petitions for Kashmiris held after Pahalgam” — the Genocide Plan.
