Month 4 · Member states of the UN Human Rights Council

Keep the investigators working

PalestineSudanMyanmar

The ask

Human Rights Council members: renew the Sudan Fact-Finding Mission with a mandate to attribute the UAE-linked arms network, fund the IIMM, renew the Commission of Inquiry on Palestine and defend the Special Rapporteur.

Why

The Council decides by majority with no veto. Renewing these mechanisms keeps the evidence that courts and sanctions authorities need.

What you can do

  1. Find out whether your state sits on the Council and how it voted last time. The workspace calendar has the session dates.
  2. Before the spring session, write to your foreign ministry asking for a yes vote on all four points.
  3. Ask your legislator to publicly condemn the US sanctions on the Special Rapporteur.
  4. Journalists: report each state's vote. The Justice Council tracker records them.

For: The public in Council member states, rights groups and journalists. From the plan: “At the Council's spring session, press members to renew the Sudan FFM, fund the IIMM, renew the Palestine COI and defend the Special Rapporteur” — the Genocide Plan.
