The ask

Canada: fill your 10,000-place Uyghur resettlement pledge before the end-2026 deadline. Other host states: make non-refoulement (no forced return) of Uyghurs binding.

Why

Canada pledged 10,000 places and the deadline is the end of 2026. The plan offers community sponsorship paid for with zakat (obligatory alms) through the Waqf Trust so that cost is not a reason to delay.

What you can do

  1. Write to your MP and Canada's immigration minister and ask them to publish how many places are filled and to fill the rest before the end of 2026.
  2. Ask your mosque or community group to form a community sponsorship group. The Trust can fund it with zakat once it opens.
  3. Outside Canada, write to your interior ministry asking it to make non-refoulement (no forced return) of Uyghurs binding.
  4. If a Uyghur you know faces deportation, use the legal aid app to get an emergency referral to a lawyer.
